What I Wore

Owning your own business is a constant struggle, especially when you work from home. I rarely get the chance to go out and talk to people and have fun because I am always working. Whenever I get the chance to go to a business meeting I dress up as much as possible, but try not to be too stuffy. This is what I wore recently:

Great Shopportunities

Since starting my own business, I have had to attend a lot more business meetings in the hope of making new connections and getting sales. I try to dress in a way that is sophisticated and reflective of my age and my industry. My outfits tend to mostly be J.crew items I have bought on sale (what can i say, I am obsessed). This is what I wore recently:

I am a firm believer in never buying anything full price. I like nice things but I refuse to pay full price to have them. Here are some of the great sales around the internet this week!

I'm Loving It- Blazers

While I am not as in love with their lines as I was last year, these are the blazers I am loving from J. Crew, Banana Republic, and Anthropologie. I tend to enjoy prints and textures that are funky and unexpected because my personality is so different from what those prints represent- or maybe it isn't.

New Attitude

A lot of things have changed in my life recently: I resigned my job and started a business which has now taken me out of my element being natural hermit. I run my business on my own which means that I am the face and the everything else of the company. Recently I have been in the local media quite a few times talking about my new venture.

Luckily, I anticipated this and knew that I needed to change a lot about my self on the inside.I figured dressing and looking better would help to give me the confidence to represent myself and my company well in the public eye. So in order to force myself to dress better and look better I did some shopping (before I resigned), cut my hair, bought some make up and started this blog.

Dinner Date

I was also inspired actually by Lisa from Respect the Shoes when she wrote that she started her blog to force herself to dress better and I thought what a great idea. It's a great way to practice putting looks together and build my confidence! I think its going well so far...well i hope so, in any case I'm sure it will improve over time.
